Description
Apart from absolute qualities and ratings, the wines of Mylopotamos definitely deserve our attention, with the monks in the largest dependency of the Holy Monastery of Megisti Lavra, headed by Father Epifanios, continuing a tradition of more than 1000 years.
The Eminent Mount Athos Wine comes from the organic farming estates of Mylopotamos and specifically from the varieties Limnio, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Limnio is a grape variety that undoubtedly demonstrates the depth of the proposal of modern Greek wines in today’s wine world, while the vinification of Mylopotamos gives an excellent wine with vanilla aroma.
– It has a deep red color while on the nose there are notes of dried plums, red fruits and spices.
– In taste it has a robust, generous structure with rich tannins, harmoniously polymerized, balanced acidity and prolonged sweet aftertaste.
– A wine with a large surface area and with many promises to lovers of the kind who want in their cellar, wines older than ten years.
– If before consuming it you decant it into a carafe, it will “open” and give you all its rich aromas.
Mount Athos Epifanis wine is ideally enjoyed at 16-18 degrees Celsius.
It was vinified in temperature-controlled winemakers for three weeks.
After malolactic fermentation, it was degreased and driven into new French oak barrels for 24 months.
Its mild tannins make it an ideal candidate next to fish in the oven, especially if the sauce also contains red wine.
