Description
Icon on Naturally Aged Wood with the Theotokos, Full of Grace
The Theotokos, Full of Grace, received this specific title from the Archangel Gabriel during the Annunciation, by the command of God. “Rejoice, Full of Grace, the Lord is with you,” the Archangel said to Mary when he appeared to announce the news that she would bear Jesus Christ into the world. Full of Grace, meaning filled with the Grace of God.
In this particular icon, the Virgin Mary is depicted holding Christ lovingly in her arms, with their faces gently touching each other.
The titles attributed to the Virgin Mary are estimated to exceed 500. Some of them come from Christian tradition, from hymns, from the way she is depicted in iconography, or even from the regions where churches dedicated to her Grace are located.
This piece of naturally aged wood, which was once used for example as a door panel in a cell of Mount Athos, now serves as the base for a beautiful work of art.
Since the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be small variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
The icon is available upon request.
