Aged Lithography with Saint Aristeides.
Saint Aristeides was an Athenian aristocrat, philosopher, and lived during the 2nd century AD under the reign of Emperor Hadrian. He became a Christian through Saint Dionysius and Saint Hierotheos.
He wrote a defense letter to Hadrian in favor of the persecuted Christians. He was later exiled and moved to Rome, where he also defended the Christian faith. Afterward, he was transferred to Athens, where he was martyred by being hanged in the marketplace of Athens on September 13, 120 AD.
Jerome wrote a eulogy for the saint and described him as an Equal-to-the-Apostles. His memory is celebrated on September 13.
