Description
Lithograph of Our Lady of the Resurrection
An impressive lithograph of Our Lady of the Resurrection. A beautiful image where both the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus are depicted with solemn dignity, and both are crowned. In this lithograph, the iconographer has created the image of the Virgin Mary symbolizing the Resurrection. In a miraculous way, not only did the Virgin Mary give birth to Jesus Christ, but she also witnessed her only son being tortured, crucified, and dying, and ultimately rising from the dead. The Virgin Mary is the one who helps us to be reborn through our troubles, as she hears the prayers of all the faithful and helps us overcome difficulties. Therefore, it is the Virgin Mary who helps us to be reborn.
Lithograph: Characteristics
The image of the Virgin Mary has been created using the lithography technique. This technique is taught in the iconography workshops of Mount Athos and is used by many monks to create remarkable works of art. In this case, the monk iconographer used a lithographed copy of Byzantine art and crafted this work following the traditional method of artificial aging. He thus created a beautiful piece with unique aesthetic value.
