Olive Oil – Properties:
Olive oil is an excellent raw material for both our diet and the production of soaps and other personal care products. Its nutritional value and technical characteristics can vary significantly depending on the method of extraction.
The so-called extra virgin olive oil is extracted exclusively through cold pressing of olive fruits. Olive oil labeled simply as virgin is also extracted using mechanical methods, but it lacks some quality characteristics such as acidity. Then, there are processed oils such as refined olive oil and pomace oil, which are mixtures of different batches with a significantly lower nutritional value and quality, but with advantages such as a higher smoke point and greater resistance to oxidation. Finally, there is also the so-called inferior olive oil (lampante) which is intended exclusively for industrial use.
It contains nourishing elements and is a natural lubricant with softening and disinfectant properties. Highly moisturizing for the skin, olive oil soap removes impurities and dirt without affecting the skin’s pH, maintaining its natural oil balance at normal levels. Its natural composition does not block the skin’s pores, allowing sweating and naturally protecting the skin cells.
