Fir Honey – I. K. Archangels – Mount Athos

Description

The monastic fir honey stands out with its characteristic reddish color. It is a thick-flowing honey, with a neutral aroma and a spicy taste, reminiscent of butter caramel.

The honey from fir trees is not collected from flowers but from a honeydew produced by microorganisms on the trunk of the fir tree. The bees then gather this honeydew (resin) from the firs and produce the honey. Fir honey is distinctive mainly because of its low glucose content, which is why it never crystallizes.

It is rich in trace elements (potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, etc.). It contains vitamins in very small amounts, but even this small quantity helps the better absorption of sugars by the human body.

This monastic product is collected by the monks of the Sacred Cell of the Archangels of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar and is packaged with care and dedication to tradition in the premises of the Holy Monastery.

Fir Honey: Properties

• It is antioxidant. Therefore, it is preferred in cases of detoxification, when we want to eliminate harmful toxins from smoke, urban environments, and foods with preservatives from our body.
