Description

A special handiwork of an Agiorite monk. The image of the Saint with golden painted sand from the shores of the Athonian State.

This specific icon of the Virgin Mary of Charus is located in Greece, in a humble Byzantine church built in Leipsos in 1600 by monks from Patmos.

They called it “Our Lady of Grace” because of the relic it housed. An image of the Virgin Mary that does not hold Christ in her arms as usual, but the Cross with Jesus on it.

It is a unique depiction that shows the mother’s grief and the torment she went through receiving her dead child after an incredibly cruel and humiliating torture.

As the picture is handmade and the wood is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood.
