Description

A special handiwork of an Agiorite monk. The image of the Saint with golden painted sand from the shores of the Athonian State.

Three Hierarchs are named after three saints and theologians of the Orthodox Christian faith, patrons of letters and students, John Chrysostom, Basil the Great and Gregory of Nazianzus. They became Fathers of the Church and Saints.
The feast of the Three Hierarchs was established around the middle of the 11th century and during the years of Constantine IX Monomachus or Alexios I Komnenos by the Metropolitan of Euchaitan Ioannis Mavropodas who composed part of the Service for the Three Saints of the Church. Within the Order, Mavropous praises the importance of the work and the quality of their action and emphasizes the relationship of the Trinity with the Triune God for the Orthodox Church.
