A lithograph depicting the Resurrection, a theme filled with powerful symbolism, which is further enhanced by the beautiful Byzantine technique followed by the iconographer. Jesus Christ is seen in the center of the image, wrapped in white light, while below appears a dark abyss, representing Christ as the sole conqueror of death.

“And He rose on the third day according to the Scriptures,” is referenced in the Nicene Creed, celebrating the triumphant resurrection of Christ from the dead. The Resurrection of Jesus symbolizes the passage from death to life, and through it, life and death take on a new meaning.

Lithograph: Characteristics

This image of the Resurrection has been created using the lithography technique. This technique is taught in the iconography workshops of Mount Athos and is also used by several monks to create exceptional works of art. In this case, the iconographer monk used a lithographed copy of Byzantine art and created this work following the traditional method of artificial aging. Thus, he created a beautiful piece with unique aesthetic value.
