Embossed Silkscreen on  Wood Featuring Saint Paisios

This particular silkscreen depicts Saint Paisios the Athonite (July 25, 1924 – July 12, 1994), who became widely known for his life and spiritual work.
He was canonized as a Saint of the Orthodox Church by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015, and the Orthodox Church celebrates his memory on July 12. In 2017, he was also declared the patron Saint of the Hellenic Army Signal Corps by decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.

Saint Paisios spent the final years of his life in the Panagouda cell on Mount Athos, where he was visited by countless people who sought his guidance and blessing. He lived a life of intense asceticism, resting only 2 to 3 hours a day. After his passing, he was buried at the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Souroti, Thessaloniki. Since then, a vigil is held every year on the night of July 11th to 12th at the Monastery, attended by thousands of faithful.

This stunning silkscreen, created by a monk on natural wood with embossed designs, is one of the key elements that make this icon a collectible piece. In addition to the beautiful representation of Saint Paisios, the monk used natural wood from a Mount Athos cell as the base for this icon.

As the icon is handmade and the wood is hand-processed, there may be slight variations in the wood and embossed designs, though not in the depiction itself.
