Gold-Embossed Icon of Saint Jude Thaddeus

An exquisite gold-embossed icon of Saint Jude Thaddeus.

The Apostle Jude Thaddeus was a highly educated Jew from Edessa. When he traveled to Jerusalem on a pilgrimage, he heard the preaching of John the Baptist. So deeply impressed was he by John’s angelic way of life that he sought to be baptized by him.

Later, after hearing the teachings and witnessing the miracles of our Lord Jesus Christ, he became one of His disciples and followed Him through His saving Passion. After the Ascension of the Lord, he returned to his homeland, where he healed the ruler Abgar of leprosy and then baptized him as a Christian. He preached the Gospel, enlightening many with the word of truth and baptizing many believers. He founded numerous churches in the cities of Syria. In Beirut, he peacefully gave up his spirit.

His memory is commemorated on August 21st.
