An amazing lithograph of the Virgin Mary Holding the Child.

The Virgin Mary is depicted holding the small Jesus in her arms. The name “Holding the Child” comes from the care and affection shown by the Theotokos for the infant Jesus, whom she holds in her arms. This is one of the many titles attributed to the Virgin Mary, which arise either from the way she is depicted in icons, like the specific one of “Holding the Child,” or from the regions where churches dedicated to her name are located, or even from hymns or traditions.

Lithograph: Features

Using a lithographed copy of Byzantine art, the monk iconographer created this work following the traditional method of artificial aging, as taught at Mount Athos. In the four corners, the image is adorned with a gold finish, between the carvings of artificial aging.
