Description

Sandblasting gold printing with Panagia Megalochari

An amazing gold print with Panagia Megalochari

According to Christian tradition, the Virgin Mary received the nickname Megalochari because of the Great Grace she received from the Lord to hear the archangelic greeting “Hail graceful the Lord with You”. The most famous Virgin Mary with the nickname Megalochari is that of Tinos. According to religious tradition, the church of Panagia of Tinos was built on the spot where an icon of the Virgin Mary was found after visions by a nun.

This is the nun Pelagia from the Holy Monastery of Kechrovouni, who in 1822 saw in a vision the Virgin Mary urging her to find a miraculous icon of Hers. It is said that he had the same dream three Sundays before excavations finally began, which proved fruitless. The icon was indeed found some time later in late January 1823. Indeed, her discovery after the nun’s vision was considered a great miracle, inevitably associated with the Greek Revolution.
