Description
A beautiful serigraph on naturally aged wood, made from wood sourced from restored monastic cells on Mount Athos, specially treated by monks.
“The sweetness of the angels, the joy of the sorrowing,” is a phrase from one of the hymns of the Feast of the Assumption. It is a hymn to the Most Holy Theotokos, to whom the entire Athonite State is dedicated. The sweetness of the angels is the Virgin Mary, who brings joy, fulfillment, and gladness, as she is the one who brought Jesus Christ into the world.
The depiction of the Most Holy Theotokos is one of the favorite subjects of the monks of Mount Athos, who express their boundless faith and love in this way.
As the image is handmade and the wood treatment is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, though not in the depiction.
