Description
Lithograph of Christ Blessing
A lithograph depicting Christ blessing the world. A beautiful work by a monk from Mount Athos and one of the most beloved iconographic themes. In this image, Christ Blessing is represented, with His right hand raised as He blesses the faithful. Jesus Christ gives His blessing to the people, to those for whom He came into the world, suffered, and was ultimately crucified. He offered His life to save and deliver humanity from sin, corruption, and death. Christ never denied His blessing to anyone, and He was the one who always approached not only the virtuous but also the wayward, to stand by them and show them the path of God. With His hand, He blesses the whole world, demonstrating His boundless love for each individual person.
Lithograph: Characteristics
In this image, the iconographer monk chose as his theme the representation of Jesus blessing the world. He used the technique of lithography to create a work of unique beauty. Based on a lithographed copy of Byzantine art, the monk crafted this piece following the traditional method of artificial aging, as taught to him in the iconography workshops of the Athonite State. In fact, the artificial aging of the icon is handmade, a process to which the monks of Mount Athos give particular importance.
