A stunning silkscreen depiction of Archangel Gabriel created on naturally aged wood from the Garden of the Virgin Mary (Mount Athos).

In the Old and New Testament, numerous interventions and benevolent acts of Archangel Gabriel are recorded. Specifically, he revealed to the prophet Daniel the duration of the Israelites’ captivity and that Christ would come to Earth after 497 years.

Archangel Gabriel served the mystery of God’s incarnate dispensation from beginning to end. He was the one who announced to Zechariah that John the Forerunner would be born and to Joachim and Anna that they would give birth to the Most Holy Theotokos. Gabriel nourished the ever-virgin Mary for twelve years while she lived in the temple, in the Holy of Holies, with heavenly food. He was also the one who brought her the joyful news, the Annunciation, that she would bear the Son of God.

The Church celebrates both Archangels Michael and Gabriel on November 8th.
