This icon depicts Christ Blessing, with His right hand raised, blessing the faithful. Jesus Christ offers His blessing to the people for whom He came into the world, suffered, and was ultimately crucified.

He offered His life to save and deliver humanity from sin, decay, and death. Christ never denies His blessing to anyone and was always the one to approach not only the righteous but also the wayward, to stand by them and show them the path of God. With His hand, He blesses the entire world, demonstrating His boundless love for each person individually.

Engraved Lithograph: Characteristics

The work is entirely hand-crafted, without the use of machines, on carved natural wood. It is the work of the iconographer Athanasios, a student of the Athoniada Ecclesiastical Academy, who remains faithful to Byzantine art as taught to him on Mount Athos. His works are coated with pure beeswax to ensure they remain unchanged over time.

In this particular image, the monk iconographer used the lithography technique to create a work of unique beauty. Specifically, using a lithographed copy of Byzantine art, the monk created this piece following the traditional method of artificial aging, as taught in the iconography workshops of the Athonite State. The artificial aging of the icon is hand-made, a process to which the monks of Mount Athos give particular importance.

Since the icon is hand-crafted and the wood processing is entirely done by hand, there may be small variations in the dimensions of each icon.
