Deaf Neck Cross with Onyx

A wonderful hollow neck cross made of pure silver 925o^{with amazing} details all over its surface. A special jewel, as it is a deaf cross, which opens in two and inside can be placed anything we wish, such as cotton impregnated with holy myrrh or relics of saints. In addition, the chain of this cross consists of onyx beads, giving this monastic handiwork a special aesthetic value.  

Artwork from Mount Athos: What It Depicts

On one side of this cross there is the representation of Panagia Athonitissa. The beloved figure of the Virgin Mary, who according to Christian tradition visited the peninsula of Athos together with John the Evangelist on his way to Cyprus to visit Lazarus. Specifically, it is said that they landed on the coast where the Holy Monastery of Iviron is located today. From that moment on, the whole area is the garden of the Virgin Mary and a port for the salvation of those who want to be saved. On the second side of the cross there is a relief representation of the crucified Jesus.
