Description
Prayer Rope Ring with Metal Element featuring Archangel Michael
A prayer rope, or “komboskini”, is a cord, usually made of wool or silk thread, woven into knots. It is a tool for prayer used by monks, clergy, and laypeople in the Orthodox Christian faith.
Each part of the prayer rope has symbolic significance. It is primarily made of wool to remind the members of the Church that they are the rational sheep of Jesus Christ (John 10:11).
Reading spiritual books and attending church services are good and beneficial. However, for those who do not have the opportunity, the prayer rope can sometimes replace other means of devotion. At each knot, one calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus by saying the short prayer, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me,” or simply “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.”
