Description
Beautiful Athonite Altar Candle made of pure beeswax
This Altar Candle is made from genuine beeswax, free from any paraffin additives. It is used in the candle holders of Holy Churches, especially on the Holy Altar.
The candle, like the wax, symbolizes the Light of Christ and the flame of faith, as well as the love and peace that should characterize every Christian. When they burn, they illuminate and comfort the soul with their light in the darkness. The pure beeswax from which it is made reflects the purity that our souls should embody.
When a believer enters the church, they must light a candle for the living and one for the departed, offering a brief prayer and asking for God’s mercy and compassion.
The Beeswax
Beeswax is known as the “gold of the bee” by beekeepers and began to be used for candle-making during the Middle Ages. These particular candles stand out for their quality and are made using the traditional technique employed by the monks of Mount Athos. It is worth mentioning that this substance is secreted by the glands of worker bees. They initially produce white wax, which is then processed and gains its characteristic yellow or brownish-yellow color, as pollen and propolis are added among other things. In beeswax, a total of 300 components have been isolated and identified.
