The Tincture of Nepeta (Nepeta Cataria) contains the same active ingredients as the dried herb Nepeta. In modern herbal medicine, Nepeta is mainly used for treating the flu or infectious childhood diseases, as well as for addressing insomnia (primarily in children). Consuming a Nepeta infusion induces sweating in cases of fever, and for this reason, it is considered an excellent herb for children with the flu or diseases such as measles and mumps. Nepeta contains the substance nepetalactone, which has a mild calming effect. It soothes the nervous system and, as a result, helps restless children sleep effectively. Compared to Valerian, Nepeta has a much milder effect, no side effects, and a much more pleasant taste (especially if a little honey is added).

Nepeta is also used (again, primarily for children) to treat stomach disorders such as colic, diarrhea, and general stomach upset. This action is mainly due to the tannins contained in the herb.

The tincture is created by steeping herbs in an alcoholic solution (grapa), usually over a period of a few weeks. During this, the active ingredients of the herbs dissolve in the alcoholic solution. This specific process results in the tincture retaining all the beneficial properties of the herbs to the fullest.

Δοσολογία:

15-20 drops in water twice a day for a month. Take a break for ten days and repeat. Shake before use.
