In the first case, the volatile oil in Geum (eugenol) exhibits strong antiseptic and analgesic properties. Eugenol, when absorbed by the body, promotes the production of trypsin (which is produced in the pancreas) and helps significantly with protein digestion (which is why it is used in infant formulas). Overall, Geum aids in conditions such as colitis, stomach disorders, and inflammations, while also providing relief in cases of diarrhea, benefiting the entire digestive system.

In the second case, its high tannin content (10-20%) gives Geum strong healing and astringent properties.
