Genuine Holy Myrrh – Aromatic & beneficial

The Holy Myrrh from Mount Athos is a genuine monastic blessing. It is a beneficial oil that contains a mixture of various plants and aromatic substances.

What does myrrh symbolize?

Myrrh is also called “thanksgiving oil”, “thanksgiving anointing” or “heavenly anointing”. Its symbolism in the Orthodox tradition is numerous and particularly important as Myrrh symbolizes the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Also, Myrrh symbolizes the fragrance of faith, tenderness of heart and devotion to the Lord. As mentioned in the Gospel, a few days before the Crucifixion of Jesus, when he was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman approached him, holding an alabaster container with precious myrrh, with which she anointed His head (Mt. 26, 6 -7).

The Myrophores got their name from the myrrh. They are the women who followed the Lord, together with the Virgin Mary and remained with her during the Passion of Jesus. They took care to anoint His body with myrrh, thus offering honor to their Master.
