The Cypress, also known as Polykombo, is a strongly aromatic, medicinal, and bee-friendly plant.

It is considered diuretic, litholytic, and antichlorhydric.

It is a particularly effective herb for kidney and bladder stones and is widely used today in herbal mixtures or on its own to address these issues.

The decoction of the plant is used for stomach acidity, digestive ulcers, intestinal worms, colds, and motion sickness.

It acts as an appetizer and aids digestion by neutralizing gas.

It increases sweating and has an expectorant action.

It stimulates and strengthens the body, and is beneficial for dizziness.

It is useful for disorders in the body caused by excessive heat.

The concentrated decoction of the plant is a good laxative. It helps with sore throat and toothache.

It is used on external wounds as a healing agent.

A few drops of it in the bath tone and rejuvenate the function of the genital glands.

The decoction used as a gargle has a healing effect on wounds in the throat and mouth.

Usage: For the treatment of kidney or bladder stones, the herb is prepared as a decoction. Boil 6 grams of the dry herb in 2.5 cups of water for 5 minutes and let it steep covered for 10 minutes. Strain and drink half in the morning and the rest in the afternoon for 10 days.

In cooking: Cypress is also used as a seasoning, similar to oregano or thyme. It can be used to flavor vinegar and olives. It pairs well with grilled meats, legumes, marinades, sauces, omelettes, white cheeses, salads, boiled green broad beans, and raw vegetables.

Precautions The herb stimulates the uterus and should be avoided during pregnancy. No other side effects of the herb have been reported; therefore, just ensure not to exceed the recommended daily dosage.
