It is widely used as a deodorant, soothing, antibiotic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and calming agent. It also acts as an analgesic, antidepressant, disinfectant, antipyretic, and aids in digestion.

Bergamot has many uses due to its medicinal properties.

The essential oil of bergamot is a tonic, meaning it stimulates the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, excretory, and nervous systems, as well as the skin and muscles. It is also decongestant and is used in diffusers to relieve congestion and respiratory issues, especially during coughing and colds. It acts as an expectorant to relax the mucus and phlegm in the respiratory passages and helps the body expel it through natural processes such as sneezing and coughing, thus eliminating some of the microbes and toxins that caused the condition.

Warning:

Essential oils are natural, effective, and particularly pleasant to use. Their therapeutic properties can benefit everyone. However, they should be treated like medicines with caution and care, following the recommended dosage.

  • Essential oils should not be used for ingestion (except for oregano, thyme, basil, and mint essential oils) and only under the guidance of a doctor.
  • During pregnancy, especially during the first 5 months of gestation.
  • By individuals who suffer from hypertension.
  • By individuals with severe neurological disorders.
  • On infants (children under one year old).

Essential oils should be used with caution in the following cases:

  • Some essential oils (e.g., Bergamot, Neroli, Lemon, etc.) can cause photosensitivity to UV rays from the sun. Generally, it is advised to avoid exposure to strong sunlight for 4 hours after aromatherapy (massage).
  • Essential oils should be diluted in a carrier oil when in contact with the skin. We recommend not using undiluted essential oils on the skin.
  • “Vulnerable” age groups (children and people over 60) should use essential oils in reduced proportions.
