Patchouli Essential Oil – Monastic Recipes

Patchouli essential oil is extracted through steam distillation from the dried leaves of the Pogostemon cablin plant, a shrub native to the tropical regions of Asia. It has a dark orange color, with a sweet, spicy, and exotic aroma.

Properties:
Patchouli essential oil is known for its antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, deodorizing, diuretic, fungicidal, and insecticidal properties.

The insecticidal and insect-repellent qualities of this oil have been known for many years, and it is commonly used to protect clothing and fabrics from insects.

It is widely used in aromatherapy as it improves mood and helps relax tension. This effect is due to its influence on serotonin and dopamine hormones when the oil is inhaled.

Patchouli oil also soothes inflammations, relieves fever, protects wounds and ulcers from infections, and speeds up wound healing.

It has strong anti-aging properties, as it stimulates muscle, nerve, and skin contractions, preventing sagging over time. It promotes the regeneration of skin cells, keeping the skin youthful, healthy, and radiant. It is known to help treat acne, eczema, and, thanks to its antiseptic and antifungal action, it protects the skin from inflammatory and allergic skin conditions. It is considered a great healing oil for wounds, scars, and cuts.

Patchouli oil is also a tonic for the body and aids in fighting hair loss.

Essential oils must be diluted in a base oil when applied to the skin. We recommend not using undiluted essential oils on the skin.
Vulnerable age groups (children and people over 60) should use essential oils in reduced ratios.
