Calendula is one of the popular herbs traditionally used for burns, cuts and infections, as it has natural antiseptic and antifungal properties.
It is also known for its soothing properties. Its healing action is due to its flowers. It helps to heal any wound such as bites, bruises, injuries and herpes. The local application of calendula is done on a clean wound and helps to regenerate the tissue. It is often used for wounds that do not heal easily such as those that show redness or inflammation.
Ideal for treating burns and especially sunburns. It protects from solar radiation and that is why many sunscreens contain it in their composition. Calendula cream or oil is applied to reduce swelling and for its antimicrobial action, especially its antifungal action that prevents secondary infection, and leads to faster healing.
