Description

Mount Athos Aromatic Olive Oil with Pure Herbs from the Athonian Land

The Mount Athos aromatic olive oil is an authentic monastic product. Monk Meliton, following the Athonite tradition, produces olive oil of exceptional quality. He uses only natural ingredients and pure herbs from the Athonian land. Rosemary and grains of black and red pepper are blended with the exceptional olive oil, giving it a unique aroma and distinctive flavor.

This aromatic olive oil will enhance the taste of your salads and dishes while providing all its nutritional benefits. The product is produced using the cold-pressing method, which ensures superior quality olive oil. This means that the oil is extracted by pressure and without the addition of heat. It is worth mentioning that cold-pressed olive oils stand out for their aroma, color, and taste, and their acidity is particularly low. They are rich in sterols and fatty acids, as well as antioxidants. It should be stored in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight.

Olive Oil Ingredients and Properties
Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids (up to 83%), and antioxidant substances, such as polyphenols. It is also a rich source of monounsaturated fatty acids, which reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering blood lipids. In fact, the World Health Organization recommends consuming two tablespoons of olive oil daily to protect the heart.

The protective action of monounsaturated fatty acids on cholesterol levels is now widely known. Indeed, much of the protective properties of olive oil are attributed to its high content of monounsaturated fatty acids. It has also been found that the phenolic components of olive oil contribute to the prevention and protection against risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, and they have documented anti-inflammatory and chemoprotective properties. Specifically, particular mention is made of the oleocanthal in olive oil, which appears to have strong anti-inflammatory effects.

Foundation of the Mediterranean Diet
Today, olive oil is the base of the Mediterranean food pyramid, which has been proven to be a model for proper and healthy nutrition and a factor in longevity. The European EUROLIVE study, conducted in 2006, provided documented evidence of the protective role of the phenolic compounds in olive oil. The experiments in this study were conducted on 200 healthy volunteers from across Europe and demonstrated protection against oxidative stress. Specifically, an increase in HDL (good cholesterol) levels was observed, along with reduced markers of lipid oxidative stress. Furthermore, the study showed a 13% reduction in DNA oxidation markers, a percentage comparable to the reductions seen after quitting smoking.
