The term Pantocrator means “Almighty” or “Ruler of All,” referring to the one who holds all power. The icon of Christ Pantocrator typically adorns the central dome (cupola) of Byzantine churches, while in basilica-style churches without domes, it is painted in the center of the ceiling. This specific depiction of Christ is one of the traditional themes in Byzantine and post-Byzantine art.
