Wooden Carved Icon of Saint Paisios

A unique wooden carved icon of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (July 25, 1924 – July 12, 1994), who became widely known for his life and work. In his later years, he lived in the cell of Panagouda on Mount Athos, where many people visited him to hear his teachings and receive his blessing. He lived an intense ascetic life, with very little rest, only 2 to 3 hours a day. Even when his health deteriorated, he refused to stop his asceticism and manual labor. After his death, he was buried at the Sacred Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Souroti, Thessaloniki.

He was canonized as a saint by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015, and the Orthodox Church commemorates his memory on July 12. In 2017, he was declared the patron saint of the military corps of Communications, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.

It is a unique piece of art created using the “pressing” technique, and the wood used for its creation is linden wood. It is crafted in accordance with the Orthodox Christian Tradition.

After the initial processing and sanding of the wood, it is painted with eco-friendly colors, followed by pest control treatment to ensure that the wood remains in excellent condition without damage for over 100 years.
