Saint Thomas was one of the twelve apostles, disciples of Jesus Christ. He was of Jewish descent and, like other disciples, worked as a fisherman. He left his profession to follow Christ when asked. Although he was one of the ardent disciples, after the resurrection he doubted and did not believe that Christ had risen until he touched the wounds of the Crucifixion on His hands during Christ’s second appearance to the disciples after His resurrection.

As the image is handmade and the processing of the wood is done by hand, there may be small variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
