Thaddeus, also known as Jude Thaddeus, Levi, or Judas the son of James, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ and a saint of the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches. He is sometimes identified, particularly in the West, with Jude the brother of Jesus, but is clearly distinguished from Judas Iscariot, the Apostle who betrayed Jesus. He should also not be confused with Thaddeus, one of the Twelve, and the Apostle Thaddeus among the Seventy Apostles.

The naturally aged wood, sourced from a restored Athonite cell, on which the image is crafted, gives it a unique aesthetic and collectible value, while also conveying a piece of its long history beyond the Athonite State.

As the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
