The wood on which the icon is placed comes from a renovated cell on Mount Athos. The monks made sure to preserve it intact during the renovation works. They aged it according to the traditional techniques used in wood-carved altarpieces and repurposed it, transforming it into an icon.

Since the icon is handmade and the woodwork is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
