The Virgin Mary Pantanassa is depicted enthroned, holding the infant Jesus in her arms.

The original miraculous icon of the Theotokos Pantanassa is a portable icon from the 17th century and is located at the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi. In Orthodox Christianity, the name Pantanassa is one of the many titles of the Theotokos, and it means “Queen of all,” “Lady of the Universe.”

It is worth mentioning that many miracles are attributed to the Pantanassa icon, one of which involves a young man who visited the Vatopedi Monastery to venerate the icon. However, an invisible force knocked him down, and when he recovered, he confessed that he had strayed from the path of God, repented, and saved his soul.

The monks, in every creation, pay attention to even the smallest details, which is why every icon that comes from their hands is a small work of art. In this particular icon, as with others in the same category, the monks used naturally aged wood from a restored Athonite cell as the base.

As the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
