The Panagia Pantanassa is depicted seated with Christ in her arms.

The original image of the Panagia Pantanassa is portable and dates back to the 17th century. It is located in the katholikon of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos and is considered to be particularly miraculous.

According to the accounts of the monks of the Monastery, the first indication that the icon has special grace is the following event: One day, a young man entered the church and, as he approached to venerate the icon, the face of the Panagia suddenly shone, and an invisible force threw him to the ground. Once he recovered, he confessed with tears to the monks that he had been living far from God and practicing magic. Thus, the miraculous intervention of the Theotokos convinced the young man to change his life and become a God-fearing person.

The uniqueness of this icon lies not only in the stunning serigraphy technique but also in the wood used by the monk who created this work. It is naturally aged wood, salvaged from the renovation of a monastic cell on Mount Athos. The monks kept it, cut it using special techniques, and preserved it so they could ultimately breathe new life into it through a new use.

Since the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
