An amazing iconographic theme featuring the Virgin Mary, the Protector of all people, who constantly prays and intercedes with Jesus Christ and her Only-Begotten Son for the redemption and salvation of humanity. The Virgin Mary has always been, is, and will continue to be the mediator between Jesus and humanity. She is the one who listens to the prayers, worries, and pains of the faithful, and it is she who conveys them to her Only-Begotten Son. This is symbolized in this image, with the Theotokos depicted in the Deesis pose. She is the Virgin Mary turned toward Jesus, interceding and praying for the salvation of mankind, asking Him to grant His Grace, to help them, and to free them from sin, so that they may be redeemed.
