A beautiful serigraph on naturally aged wood from Mount Athos, depicting the Theotokos in the posture of Deesis.

This is an incredible iconographic theme featuring the Theotokos, the Protector of all people, who continually prays and intercedes with Jesus Christ and Her Son for the redemption and salvation of humanity. The Virgin Mary has always been, is, and will continue to be the mediator between Jesus and humankind. She is the One who hears the prayers, anxieties, and pain of the faithful, and she brings them to Her Son. This is symbolized by the image, where the Theotokos is shown in a stance of Deesis, turned towards Jesus, interceding and praying for the salvation of humanity, for His grace, to help them, and to distance them from sin so they may be redeemed.

Two elements contribute to the aesthetic superiority of this icon. The first is the expertly crafted depiction by the monk, and the second is the naturally aged wood used as the base of the icon.

As the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction of the image.
