The Icon of Christ Pantocrator is an exceptional example of the creativity and wisdom of the monks on Mount Athos. The value of this particular icon lies in the fact that its aging process was achieved through the natural use of wood as a functional material in the Garden of the Virgin Mary.

Christ Pantocrator is depicted sitting on a throne, as the King of the Universe. He is surrounded by angelic forces that hymn His glory throughout the ages. At His feet, various animals are portrayed, carrying symbolic significance as described in the Holy Scriptures. Additionally, at the Lord’s feet, the sun and moon are depicted, symbolizing the Creator’s dominion and omnipotence over the world.

The wood’s grains, cracks, knots, protrusions, and other features remain intact. The image of Christ Pantocrator is framed with a thick gold border. The colors of the entire composition respect the age of the wood and faithfully reflect the Byzantine tradition of Mount Athos.

Since the icon is handmade and the woodwork is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
