Description

Silkscreen Print of Saint Stylianos on Naturally Aged Wood

A magnificent silkscreen print of Saint Stylianos, whose feast day is celebrated on November 26. The saint is depicted holding a swaddled infant in his arms, symbolizing his role as the protector of children.

Saint Stylianos came from a wealthy family, but from a young age, his parents taught him the virtues of asceticism, using money to help the poor and the sick. After their death, he distributed his entire inheritance and retreated to live as a hermit in the desert. His reputation spread, and many came to seek his spiritual guidance. Despite his solitary life, Saint Stylianos had a deep compassion for children, often explaining how childhood, by nature, is more virtuous. Parents would bring their children to him for blessings, and Saint Stylianos’ joy was great. In response to his holy compassion, God granted him the gift of healing sick children and helping barren women.

The unique aesthetic value of this image lies in two elements: the meticulously crafted depiction of Saint Stylianos by a monastic iconographer, and the naturally aged wood used as the base of the image. This wood originates from Mount Athos, carrying a piece of the sacred history of this revered place, as it once belonged to a part of the monastery.

Please note: As the image is handcrafted and the wood is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, though not in the depiction.
