A wonderful silkscreen image with a representation of Saint Athanasius Athonite & of Panagia in naturally aged wood from Perivoli Tis Panagia
Saint Athanasios the Athonite is considered the founder of monasticism on Mount Athos. In 963, Athanasios built the Monastery of Megistis Lavra on the edge of Mount Athos. When Agios Athanasios began to build the Monastery of Lavra, the necessary goods, money, food and other materials, began to dwindle a few months later. Desperate, he abandoned the project and left for Karyes, the capital, to see what he could do.After a two-hour march, a majestic woman appeared on his way, who in a stern tone revealed to him that she was the mother of the Lord and God and that he must turn back to finish his work. Saint Athanasios, to make sure that everything he told him was true, asked for a sign. Then, the Mother of God told Saint Athanasios to strike with his staff the stone that was in front of them, from which abundant water came out, as soon as he struck it!! In fact, this water was very tasty and cured many diseases.
As the image is handmade and the wood is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the illustration.
