Description

Icon of Saint Paisios, Saint Euphemia & Saint Arsenios on Naturally Aged Wood

Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (born Arsenios Eznepidis) became widely known for his life and work. After his death, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew initiated the process of his canonization, and he was declared a Saint of the Orthodox Church by the Ecumenical Patriarchate on January 13, 2015. The Church celebrates his memory on July 12th.

Saint Paisios spent the last years of his life at the Panagouda Skete, which he found abandoned. There, he worked tirelessly with many people who visited him, offering spiritual help through his prayers and teachings. At the same time, he continued his intense ascetic life, resting very little each day. However, he continued to receive and try to help visitors. He also used to make “stamped” icons as handicrafts, which he gave to visitors as a blessing.

The icon depicts the sanctified figure of the Athonite elder along with Saint Arsenios (November 10), with whom he shared close spiritual bonds, and Saint Euphemia (September 16). Saint Paisios had the special blessing, thanks to his fervent faith and prayer, to receive a visit from Saint Euphemia at his cell. Initially, the saint thought it was a temptation and made Saint Euphemia venerate the Holy Trinity. Later, Saint Euphemia sat near Elder Paisios and told him about her life and martyrdom.

Among other beneficial works published about the life, miracles, and teachings of Saint Paisios, this piece carries a unique grace as it contains wood that lived for many years in the Garden of the Virgin Mary (Mount Athos). With the blessing of the monks, this grace is passed on to the world. It is available exclusively from “Agioritic Kleronomia.”

Since the icon is handmade and the woodwork is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.

The icon is available by special order.
