Description

Icon of Enlightened Monk Saints on Naturally Aged Wood

There have always been saints who serve as living examples and role models in the turbulent lives of people. Saints who inspire with their faith, asceticism, and perseverance. Modern saints, spiritually connected to one another, such as Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia (November 10) and Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (July 12), act as luminous guides in the darkness of daily struggles and temptations.

Through their deep faith, ascetic practices, and patience, they attained not only eternal life but also a place among the saints of the Orthodox Church. Enlightened by the Holy Spirit and blessed with foresight, they were spiritual beacons for countless people fortunate enough to meet and converse with them.

In this collectible icon, the figure of Elder Arsenios of Simonopetra is also depicted alongside the two saints. Monk Arsenios Simonopetritis (1924–2013), born Pantelis Tzekos, was from Corfu. He was a fellow soldier of Saint Paisios, who saved his life at great personal risk after Arsenios was gravely wounded in the head. Elder Arsenios also assisted in the exhumation of Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia’s relics in Corfu. These events forged a lifelong, brotherly friendship between Elder Arsenios and Saint Paisios, giving Arsenios great spiritual boldness before the saint.

This remarkable silkscreen icon is crafted on Athonite wood, where even the natural cracks harmonize beautifully, creating a stunning effect. The icon was handcrafted by a monk from Mount Athos, with wood sourced from a renovated monastic cell. A collectible piece and a part of Mount Athos’ history.

As the icon is handcrafted and the wood is processed manually, slight variations in the wood may occur, but not in the depiction itself.

The icon is available upon request.
