A beautiful icon depicting the Holy Trinity. This unique composition, full of symbolism, is a theme mostly found in post-Byzantine times. It represents the three Persons of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, depicted on His right, and the Holy Spirit.

In this depiction of the Holy Trinity, we see God the Father portrayed as an elderly figure with white hair and a beard. Jesus, the Son of God, is seated beside Him. The Holy Spirit is represented as a dove hovering between them.

The Holy Trinity refers to the three divine Persons of God in Christianity. God is One and Triune, having one essence (nature) and three persons (hypostases). The three persons or hypostases are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are indivisible and of the same essence. This is also known as the Doctrine of the Trinity.

The uniqueness of this icon lies in the aged wood on which the canvas is mounted. The cracks in the wood bear witness to the years it has spent at Mount Athos, adding authenticity to it. The wood collected from the renovation of monastic cells at Mount Athos is not discarded but carefully gathered, cut, and preserved by the monks to be transformed into small works of art, specifically icons, which carry the blessings of the monks who lived in the cells from which the wood originated.

As the icon is handmade and the wood is processed by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood but not in the depiction.
