Description

A special handiwork of an Agiorite monk. The image of the Saint with golden painted sand from the shores of the Athonian State.

Agia Chrysi was born in the village of Slatena in the province of Almopia Pella and had three other sisters, while her parents were poor. She herself often went with other women of the village and they collected firewood for their houses and that’s when a Turk saw her and wanted to make her his wife. After abducting her and taking her to his house, he then tried to convert her to Islam with flattery. Chrysi, however, resisted.

The Turk then brought her parents, whom he blackmailed, to convince her to change her religion. The young lady, however, answered in the negative and spoke vigorously about Christ. Finally, the Turks subjected her to horrible torture and on October 13, 1795 AD, they cut her body with knives leading to her death.
