Description

A special handiwork of an Agiorite monk. The image of the Saint with golden painted sand from the shores of the Athonian State.

Holy Savvas, the so-called Achilles, the Cypriot, the healer and the chaser of demons, was born on the second of the month of August in the year one thousand one hundred and thirty (1930) in Alon, Nicosia, on the martyred and holy island of Cyprus. As the fifth and youngest child of a poor farming family, he has pious and patriotic parents. His mother used to sing for him priestly vestments and, like swallows, they sing in the temples.

Filomousos He practiced the musical instruments of the violin and the aulus to the delight of his family and the inhabitants of his village.

But this young man, rather than these, succumbed to the holy desire of a free Cyprus. The injustices of the British and Agarean rulers of the island did not frighten him, but strengthened his patriotism. A short time later, British soldiers invaded his village and seized the baked bread from the mothers.
