Sandblasting of Saint Jude Thaddeus

The Apostle Jude Thaddeus was a highly educated Jew from Edessa. When he traveled to Jerusalem for pilgrimage, he heard the preaching of John the Baptist and, impressed by his angelic life, he sought to be baptized by him.

Later, after hearing the teachings and witnessing the miracles of our Lord Jesus Christ, he became His disciple and followed Him until the saving Passion. After the Ascension of the Lord, he returned to his homeland. There, he cured the local ruler, Abgar, of leprosy and subsequently baptized him as a Christian. He preached the Gospel, enlightening many with the word of truth and baptizing many converts. He founded numerous churches in the cities of Syria. In Beirut, he peacefully gave up his spirit.

His feast day is celebrated on August 21.
