Description

A special handiwork of an Agiorite monk. The image of the Saint with golden painted sand from the shores of the Athonian State.

Agia Neomartys Argyri was born in Boursa in the year 1688 AD. She was beautiful in appearance and God-fearing. While she was still a newlywed she was loved by a Turk, who, unable to bring her to him, perjured himself against her that he wanted to convert to the Muslim religion.
The judge of Bursa immediately imprisoned Agia. The Christian husband of the Saint, after his actions, succeeded in having the trial held in Constantinople. But even there, after the Turk came, he perjured himself again against her. In her apology, the Saint confessed her faith in Christ with spiritual courage and boldness. Thus, by order of the judge, she was sent to the prison of Haskioi, where, after many years of suffering and torture, she surrendered her spirit to the Lord in the year 1721 AD.
