The Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a feast of the Mother of God both of the Orthodox Church and of other Christian denominations. It is one of the greatest feasts of Christianity and is celebrated every summer on August 15. On that day, Christians celebrate with particular splendor the death of the Virgin Mary, her burial, resurrection and ascension to heaven.
Lithography: Characteristics
Using a lithographed copy of Byzantine art, the hagiographer monk created this work following the traditional method of artificial aging, as he was taught on Mount Athos. At its edges, the image has scratches from the method of artificial aging.
