Silkscreen of The Passion of Jesus Christ on Naturally Aged Wood
An exquisite silkscreen depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ.
Following His arrest at the Mount of Olives, Jesus is brought before the High Priest Caiaphas for questioning. He is later taken, bound, to the governor Pontius Pilate, where He is interrogated again. Pilate tells the chief priests that he finds no guilt in Jesus and suggests flogging Him and releasing Him. However, the gathered crowd demands His crucifixion. Ultimately, Jesus is condemned to crucifixion, while according to local custom, the governor releases the prisoner Barabbas. Jesus is handed over to the soldiers, who dress Him in a scarlet robe, crown Him with thorns, and, carrying the Cross, He proceeds to Golgotha, the place of execution. There, He is crucified between two thieves, enduring the mockery and blows of Roman soldiers.
This icon, like all those in the same collection, is crafted on naturally aged wood sourced from a restored cell of Mount Athos.
As the icon is handcrafted and the wood is manually processed, slight variations in the wood may occur, but not in the depiction.
