Description

Embossed Gold Leaf Print with Sandblasting of the Guardian Angel

An amazing gold leaf print representation of the Annunciation of the Guardian Angel.

It is often said that every person has a personal guardian angel. Every Christian, from the moment of their baptism, is assigned a good angel who stands to their right, guiding them in every action pleasing to God.

This angel is gentle, humble, and meek, teaching the human heart justice and the path to goodness. Other Church Fathers also teach that the angel remains with a person only as long as they lead a holy life; otherwise, the angel departs due to the person’s wicked and sinful deeds. The Guardian Angel also secretly guides the person’s steps towards all that is good and, as much as allowed, keeps them away from evil and sin. However, the Guardian Angel does not merely stand as the protector of the soul and body; rather, he becomes one with the soul in the Holy Spirit. Therefore, he feels pain and anxiety for the soul entrusted to him. This angel comforts in times of sorrow, helps in pain, sympathizes with the person, leads them to repentance, and protects them from both visible and invisible enemies.

Embossed Gold Leaf Print with Sandblasting: Features

In the image depicting the Annunciation of the Theotokos, the monk iconographer used the technique of embossed gold leaf to create a work of exceptional beauty. Gold leaf printing is a form of thermographic technique. Thermography is the method where a very thin layer of gold leaf is applied to surfaces such as wood, leather, cardboard, or plastic by the pressure of a heated embossed plate (cliché) against the surface. The technique of sandblasting is also used around the perimeter of the image; this is a process by which part or all of a surface is eroded by the projection of sand under pressure.
